Our past year at the Estevan Mental Health Drop In Centre has been another exciting year for us. We have added new members to our Drop In, and along with new membership comes the challenge of developing new programming.

Our Drop-In continues to offer the following programs:

  • Odd Job Squad: This program continues to be a success. This prevocational program is designed to assist clients to get ready to enter the work force. We are also using this program as a self-esteem building project for those who are unable to enter the work force (for health reasons) to feel productive.
  • Life Skills Program: This program is offered on Tuesday afternoons and is open to all who are interested in fun, friendship and learning.
  • Summer Outing Program: The Summer Outing Program is offered in July and August and is very well attended by clients from Estevan, Redvers and Lampman. It is a time for fellowship and fun.
  • Art Class: A local artist comes in to instruct on a regular basis. Many of our artists' works have been accepted for use in the Canadian Mental Health Association Cash Calendar. Also, we have had artwork displayed in our local art gallery and adjudicated.
  • Helping Hands: This program is offered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons by appointment only. Clients can ask or get help with their shopping, budgeting, social and recreational needs. This program is on a one-to-one basis. To date it has proved to be very effective.
  • Birthday Club: Held once a month to celebrate all who have yet again turned 39.
The Drop In continues to offer coffee and socialization on a daily basis. Our main aim is to provide a safe, non-threatening environment for persons suffering with long term mental illness, as well as to promote awareness in our community.
